Job summary

Flock in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Retain team to build and operate core backend services that help fleets see value and stay profitable.

You will own design, implement and deploy scalable, secure services in AWS, write TypeScript, shape PostgreSQL schemas and mentor teammates, using AI tools to accelerate delivery.

The role offers a hybrid working model in Central London with a strong focus on collaboration, quality, and impact.

Qualifications

• Hands-on production experience building services in TypeScript; write typed, maintainable code and own delivery.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema, SQL, indexing, performance and migrations.
• Experience designing and operating distributed services in AWS, with pragmatic scalability, observability and cost trade-offs.
• Thoughtful approach to testing, CI/CD, type-safe APIs and serverless patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, build and operation of critical backend services for the Retain team.
• Drive architecture and platform decisions for scalable, reliable AWS services.
• Collaborate with product, data and commercial teams to translate needs into technical scope and measurable outcomes.
• Lead by example through code reviews, pairing and mentoring.
