Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced backend engineer to enhance pricing, billing and tax flows for international contexts using Django. You will improve payment accuracy, reporting, and the flexibility of subscriptions within a small, delivery‑focused team.

You will contribute to robust, secure software with strong CI/CD practices while collaborating across product and operations to deliver high‑quality customer experiences.

Qualifications

• 3+ years software experience, preferably with Django or similar Python frameworks.
• Experience with monitoring and debugging applications and infrastructure.
• Experience maintaining asynchronous processing systems (AMQP, Celery).
• Experience with subscriptions and recurring payments.
• Experience with billing and invoicing flows.
• Experience working on commercials, pricing and tax within an international context.
• Experience with KYC/KYB products and flows.

Responsibilities

• Help us improve the core product by developing and improving our pricing and discount mechanisms.
• Help improving the accuracy of our financial reporting and payment success rates across our existing and potential payment providers
• Expand existing charging subscription offering to add flexibility and scalability
• Work within a small specialized team to enable multiple cross functional product areas and delivery best quality for our customers
• Support the Operations team in resolving payments related customer issues, and the Financial team in building accurate reporting systems
