Marks & Spencer plc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Identity Platform team in the United Kingdom. You will design and build secure authentication and identity services used by millions of customers and colleagues, owning features end-to-end from design through production support.

You will contribute to a modern, cloud-native platform, balance security with usability, and participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to drive engineering excellence across

Qualifications

• Senior software engineer with experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Java and/or Kotlin and modern backend frameworks.
• Experience designing secure, scalable services in cloud-native environments.
• Familiarity with identity and access management technologies such as OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect.

Who You Are

A senior software engineer with significant experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems serving millions of users.Strong experience with Java and/or Kotlin and modern backend development frameworks.in designing and delivering secure, scalable services within cloud-native environments.Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and operational ownership.Comfortable designing systems that balance security, usability, resilience, and performance.Experience with identity and access management technologies, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or similar authentication standards is highly desirable.
