Job summary

Wise is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build an entirely new onboarding network for businesses across Europe and the UK. You will design reliable, scalable systems for verifying businesses, owners, and directors while reducing onboarding time through automation.

You will work with Product, Compliance and other engineering teams to balance customer experience with risk management and growth, in a highly collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Strong product mindset and passion for user experience with data-driven decisions.
• Experience with Java or other JVM languages and Spring framework.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and distributed systems.
• Machine learning basics and production familiarity is a plus.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases and schema design.
• Commitment to writing testable code and Test Driven Development.

Responsibilities

• Design and build reliable, scalable systems for business onboarding across Europe and the UK.
• Automate information collection, verification and decision-making to reduce onboarding time.
• Create flexible onboarding journeys for different markets and regulatory needs.
• Develop controls to manage financial-crime and compliance risks with minimal friction.
• Own projects end to end—from discovery to delivery and impact measurement.
• Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Operations and other engineering teams.
