Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer for the Object Storage team in London. You will help lead development of a large-scale storage platform used by internal services, focusing on fairness, durability, performance, and scalability as the system grows.

You will own complex problems end-to-end, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with multiple teams to shape future direction while maintaining high reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• In-depth experience as a backend software engineer with computer science fundamentals.
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems with emphasis on availability and fault tolerance.
• Experience driving complex, ambiguous technical projects end-to-end and collaborating across teams to build consensus.
• Experience with multi-tenant resource isolation, rate limiting, or quota systems; large-scale storage systems; or distributed systems reliability work.

Responsibilities

• Identify, scope, and lead major projects impacting reliability, performance, scalability, and maintainability of the storage platform.
• Drive architecture and design decisions across the platform and represent direction in cross-team design reviews.
• Collaborate across teams to turn ambiguous problems into concrete, sequenced plans.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar in testing, observability, and operations.
• Tackle new problem areas as priorities shift, maintaining depth of ownership.
