Are you an experienced Software Engineer who wants to join an Award Winning Lab and are passionate about engineering and Group Transformation? Our goal in the Domestic Payments Lab Value Stream is to support customer welfare through secure payments and fraud prevention. Support Domestic Payments Lab Business Areas with compliant, fast, secure transaction services to combat threats. As a Senior Software Mainframe Engineer is tasked with delivering end-to-end engineering Payment solutions for our customers. Your involvement is essential to our strategy of simplifying, modernizing, and de-risking the Payments landscape, and ultimately generating value for customers and shareholders. Software Engineers engage with a variety of customers, external partners, and our internal development and testing teams to help achieve IT strategies effectively.

  • Having strong skills in software development lifecycle is essential (preferably the Agile Framework) and should be demonstrable through your experience to date.
  • Ensure software is built in a way that is consistent with the frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider engineering community.
  • Contribute to setting the strategic direction for how applications are developed within the team and contribute through all stages of development from initiation through to live implementation.
  • Apply industry innovation and share knowledge to solve complex business problems without precedent, ensuring implementation of solutions when needed.
  • Also ensure applications are fast, secure and work across all manner of devices.
    Experience working with the following: IBM z/OS, JCL, TSO, Cobol, Connect:Direct, Java, REST API's.
  • Source code management and managing change with experience of Endevor and GitHub.
  • Engineering practices, continuous development, integration, testing and production support.
  • Experience in the Banking domain, in particular Faster Payments and BACS.
  • Experience of Technical Guidance and Mentoring.
