Job summary

Tempest Vane Partners in London is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Platform Engineering function, focusing on identity and access infrastructure that underpins research and live trading. You’ll design authentication and authorisation platforms used across the firm, with emphasis on scale, performance and reliability.

The role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, security, infrastructure and AI, with exposure to identity for AI agents, workloads and non-human services.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building and architecting production software.
• Strong Go and Python development experience.
• Deep knowledge of authentication and authorisation.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, SpiceDB or OpenFGA.
• Strong distributed systems and high-throughput engineering experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containers.
• Strong architecture and systems-design capability.
• Exposure to agentic AI tooling/SDKs.
• Excellent technical communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build authentication and authorisation platforms.
• Develop identity solutions for users, services, workloads and AI agents.
• Engineer real-time systems handling tens of millions of requests daily.
• Build SDKs, frameworks and self-service tooling for engineers.
• Drive automation, observability, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.

This is a high-impact role focused on building the identity and access infrastructure underpinning research and live trading, with a strong emphasis on scale, performance and reliability.

The Role

You’ll design and build critical authentication and authorisation platforms used across the firm's technology estate.

The role sits at the intersection of distributed systems, security, infrastructure and AI, with exposure to emerging challenges around identity for AI agents, workloads and non-human services.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and evolve large-scale authentication and authorisation platforms.
• Develop identity solutions for users, services, workloads and AI agents.
• Engineer real-time systems handling tens of millions of requests daily.
• Build developer tooling incorporating LLMs and intelligent agents.
• Develop SDKs, frameworks and self-service tooling for engineers.
• Drive automation, observability, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
