Job description

Senior Software Engineer

Java / JavaScript / Geospatial

(Apply online only) per day, Outside IR35

Initial 6 month Contract

Fully Remote (Must be based in UK)

Our exclusive Consultancy partner urgently requires the services of 4 Senior Software Developers to join a project team, delivering services for a high profile Government customer.

No SC Clearance is required, however experience working in the Public Sector is desirable.

Skills & Experience needed

A Senior software Developer with experience of leading front and back-end development. The Senior software Developer must be experienced in using of Java, at least one of these Software Developers must have experience of Delphi, and they must have knowledge of most of Python, CSS, Docker, Azure, AWS, - or be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of similar tools to adopt these quickly.

It is desirable that the candidate will also have experience of Postgres/PostGIS. The Senior Software Developer must be able to pick up existing codebases, and improve / amend them, as well as develop and implement new features.

They must be comfortable turning designs into new front-end applications, and applying design changes to existing applications.

They must be adaptable, and able to identify where their role can support other areas of the team.

Technical Expertise

Programming Proficiency: Advanced skills in full stack development using Java and Javascript, with demonstrated experience in building production-grade applications. At least one of these roles should have experience of Delphi.

Cloud Architecture: Understanding of cloud-native architectures, particularly in AWS or Azure environments.

Hands-on experience developing and debugging CI/CD pipelines, including fluency with containerised deployment methodologies.

The Developers will ideally have hands-on experience with geospatial systems, OpenLayers, Postgis, and MapFish (Desirable skills).

Professional Capabilities

The Developer is accustomed to working in Agile and/or Kanban teams.

The Developer should demonstrate experience of leading development teams.

The Developer should demonstrate experience of working in cross-disciplinary teams and should be comfortable to understand and engage with their key stakeholders in a large organisation.
