Overview

We build a global open banking platform that changes how money moves. Payments and refunds are instant, account data is accessible and verification is seamless – enabling innovators to build better financial experiences for their users.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Engineering, Product and Design to size, prioritize and deliver features that serve millions of API requests.
  • Design, implement, test and operate scalable, highly‑available systems that support a 99.5% SLA.
  • Drive fast, safe iteration cycles using design patterns, testing and automation.
  • Co‑coach teammates and elevate the engineering organization through mentorship and technical leadership.
  • Own incident response, investigate and publicly communicate service recovery for the areas under your responsibility.
  • Play an active role in cross‑team technology efforts by joining our engineering guilds.
  • Model TrueLayer values and help keep TrueLayer exceptional, honest, genuine and human.
Requirements
  • Experience building distributed backend systems in Rust, .NET, Java, Go or similar.
  • Deep understanding of design patterns, principles and when to apply them.
  • Proficiency with API design and at least one web framework.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data technologies.
  • Familiarity with microservice architecture and associated challenges.
  • Strong testing best practices – TDD, unit, integration testing.
  • Experience with observability, alerting and supporting mission‑critical distributed systems.
Preferred
  • Graph database experience – Cypher, Gremlin or similar.
  • Containerised service deployment and management, with Kubernetes focus.
  • Protocol buffers, gRPC and message queue systems.
  • Open source contributions and library building.
  • Hands‑on AWS and infrastructure‑as‑code tools such as Terraform.
Benefits & Compensation
  • Competitive salary: €65,750 – €73,000 + equity.
  • Hybrid work: 3 days remote, 2 days in London, Milan or Dublin.
