The salary is broken down as 60,400 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 65,886. Job Summary As a Senior Software Developer, you will play a pivotal role in developing existing systems and shaping the future of Counter Terrorism Police systems. To lead on designing and creating bespoke software following agile delivery processes as part of a DevSecOps team. This role requires a flexible working approach and be self-motivated to help ensure that the various environments are well architected and documented. This role is aligned to the Senior Developer role set out within the Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (DDAT). You’ll join a new team of Software engineers, working flexibly from home and with an office space in our air-conditioned operations centre located east of Birmingham, with easy access from the M6 and M42. The post holder will be required to do the following: Be responsible for writing clean, secure code following a test-driven approach. Create code that is open by default and easy for others to reuse. To build future proof reusable code libraries, which can be shared, in-order to drive further efficiencies throughout the team. Work with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built - including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to understand project requirements, provide technical insights, and ensure successful project delivery. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying areas for process optimization, automation, and productivity enhancement. Have an understanding of the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others. Understanding and experience of security checks and gates within a CI/CD process. Lead and mentor other software developers, providing guidance, support, and technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle. Agile mind set and ability to thrive in collaborative teams. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent git and issue tracking skills. Commitment to code quality and best practices, including writing automated tests and conducting code reviews. This role does not attract Shift Disturbance Allowance. If you are currently in a shift-working role, SDA should cease upon appointment to this job. Vetting This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis.
