Job summary

St Helens Council is recruiting experienced Social Workers and AMHPs for the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) to deliver urgent out-of-hours safeguarding and mental health assessments in the St Helens and Halton area.

Based at our Widnes office with regular travel within the St Helens & Halton region, this role requires autonomous professional practice and a commitment to making a difference for vulnerable people.

Qualifications

• Experienced social workers with the ability to work autonomously in safeguarding contexts.
• AMHP qualification and experience in Mental Health Act assessments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality social work services to vulnerable children and adults.
• Provide out-of-hours emergencies and risk assessments as part of EDT.
• Support homelessness and mental health assessments in the St Helens/ Halton area.

Making a Difference as Senior Social Worker/ AMHP with the Emergency Duty Team

The St Helens Emergency Duty Team, who are also commissioned by Halton LA, deliver an out of hours emergency response in respect of risk of immediate harm for People's Services.

This encompasses immediate risk of harm to children and adults, mental Health support/ assessments, and homelessness.

EDT’s primary office base is situated at Municipal Building in Widnes.

Employees can regularly work away from Council workspaces (including home or other locations), alongside required office-based working. The balance between remote and office-based working is determined at service level based on operational need.

This post will require you to be based at our Widnes office and be able to attend the St Helens and Halton area regularly as part of your work.

As a member of the St Helens & Halton EDT Service, you will be part of a skilled and professional team supported by experienced colleagues and Team Manager.
