Purpose of the Role

To provide advanced social work services for children in care, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and progress toward permanency. The Senior Social Worker will manage complex cases, lead on practice excellence, and support the professional development of junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management & Direct Practice: Oversee a caseload of children in care, providing robust care planning, reviews, and interventions.
  • Professional Leadership & Mentoring: Guide and support junior social workers, fostering best practice and continuous learning.
  • Safeguarding & Risk Management: Implement safeguarding practices, conduct risk assessments, and participate in child protection proceedings.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with health, education, and voluntary sector partners to provide comprehensive support.
  • Quality Assurance & Service Improvement: Engage in audits, case reviews, and service development initiatives.
  • Professional Practice: Maintain Social Work England registration and engage in continuous professional development.
