• Carry out Initial Assessments to understand the needs and risks of children and families.
• Initiate Care Proceedings to safeguard vulnerable children.
• Take cases to initial case conferences, ensuring the best interests of the child are always the focus.
• Conduct assessments under the single assessment framework, providing clear and informed recommendations.
• Engage in Care Planning and signpost to appropriate services.
• Complete comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards to children.
• Prepare detailed reports for initial child protection case conferences.
• Attend case conferences to discuss and plan child welfare strategies.
• Complete Section 17 reports for family courts to aid in decision‑making.
• Write initial court statements to provide evidence and insights for legal proceedings.
• Apply for emergency care orders when immediate action is necessary.
• Attend court to present and defend the welfare interests of children.
• Perform home visits to monitor and safeguard children, ensuring their well‑being.
• Chair meetings to lead discussions and strategise child protection plans.

Requirements of the Senior Social Worker

A Degree or equivalent in social work is essential, alongside current Social Work England registration. You will need significant frontline experience in Social Services in the UK, having worked as a qualified Social Worker.
