Role purpose and overview

The Telegraph’s social media editors work to maximise the potential of the stories we tell, combining excellent social media and journalistic skills.

The Senior Social Media Editor for Telegraph Recommended will work with the central social media team to grow Recommended content across a variety of social media platforms.

Key responsibilities
  • Work with the Head of Social Media and Lead Publisher, Recommended to develop a social media strategy for Telegraph Recommended.
  • Grow Recommended on appropriate social media channels.
  • Edit and maintain Recommended social media feeds to a high standard.
  • Work with the Recommended team to develop ideas, create bespoke content and curate a publishing schedule.
  • Grow and build strong communities using social media.
  • Monitor and research product review social media and search trends, as well as emerging platforms/tools/channels.
  • Use analytics tools to help inform the strategy.
  • Identify gaps in our strategy/daily outputs and develop new ideas to fill these.
  • Report on performance to the wider Recommended team.
Key skills
  • Proven experience in a social media role with a good understanding of content production.
  • Strong knowledge of social media and creative storytelling within the product review space.
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation and initiative.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work comfortably both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent and clear communication skills.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines while maintaining flawless accuracy.
  • Ability to manage longer-term projects alongside fast-moving daily responsibilities.
  • Experience working with social video.
  • Experience working with affiliate content within the product review space would be beneficial.
  • Experience with TikTok Shop is also desirable.
