Job Title: Senior AWS Site Reliability Engineer
Location: Hybrid - Sutton or Southampton - 2 days a week in the office
Salary/Rate: Up to £560 inside IR35
Start Date: November 2025
Job Type: 6-month contract - likely to extend

Company Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer with AWS, Linux, Docker, IaC, and Monitoring (Grafana) experience to join our client, a global analytics organisation based in Sutton or Southampton (twice a week in either office).

Required Skills/Experience

• In-depth technical knowledge of Linux, Implementation of Containerisation (Docker), Administration, Scripting in Bash.
• Strong AWS experience - Working with AWS messaging Services (SNF) & Kafka ideally.
• Advanced knowledge of at least one IaC tool such as Terraform, Cloudformation, Ansible
• Strong experience with monitoring tools such as Grafana, Elastic, StatusCake, PagerDuty
• Security Engineering pipeline experience
• Containerisation (Docker) on Linux
• Good understanding of at least one high-level programming language, i.e. Python
• In-depth knowledge of one or more database systems such as Postgres, SQL Server
• Experience in explaining technical issues & updates to non-technical people so they are able to easily understand.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining high performance, highly available production hosting environments, preferably using AWS (VPCs, security groups, RDS, S3, EC2, ECS, EKS)
• Understanding of security engineering and security best practices
• Advanced knowledge of configuration management tools, such as Puppet, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of best practices and tooling for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD)

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

• Working as part of a cross-functional team to best implement internal applications
• Diagnose complex system performance problems
• Work closely within cross-functional teams to refine system monitoring and reporting
• Identify and implement best practices by collaborating with other SREs and SRE teams
• Understand Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and its implementation methods.
• Identify and implement architectural best practices by collaborating with multiple teams and software engineers
• Diagnose complex system problems using dumps, traces, or other diagnostics aids.
• Manage and encourage new ideas from staff to foster improvements and innovation
