Job summary

Avove is seeking a Senior Site Manager to lead delivery on a Severn Trent Water framework, ensuring safe, compliant projects delivered to the highest client standards.

You will drive safety discussions, coordinate with the delivery team, and oversee site diaries, RAMS, permits, and collaboration with clients and subcontractors across multiple sites. A strong leadership and HSEQ mindset is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of temporary works, excavation safety, and high‑risk activities.
  • Proven leadership skills managing site teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong HSEQ awareness with a proactive approach to safety.
  • Experience delivering projects to programme, cost, and quality targets.
  • Ability to review RAMS and manage permit systems.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of contracts.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of CDM, Safety, and Environmental Regulations.
  • Experience within the water industry or another public utility sector.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
  • Valid CSCS Card.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and manage the contract scope for each project.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of site diaries.
  • Maintain appropriate welfare facilities on site.
  • Prepare RFQs for required subcontracted activities.
  • Support the project’s collaborative plan.
  • Liaise regularly with client operational teams to coordinate site activities.
  • Chair collaborative meetings with clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and direct labour.
  • Ensure works comply with temporary works procedures, safety standards, and approved designs.
  • Promote a strong HSEQ culture through visible leadership and proactive management.
  • Oversee programme, cost, quality, and safety performance to meet contract requirements.
  • Develop and monitor construction programmes and short-term lookahead plans.
  • Maintain accurate site records and reporting.
  • Lead site meetings, briefings, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Review and approve RAMS, particularly for high‑risk activities.
  • Oversee temporary works design, installation, and compliance.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, quality, and progress.
  • Ensure robust permit systems, site standards, and welfare provisions.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and safety tours.

About The Role

Due to continued growth, Avove is seeking a Senior Site Manager to join our Severn Trent Water framework. In this role, you’ll lead by example to ensure safe, compliant, and high‑quality project delivery. You’ll promote a strong HSEQ culture by promoting safe behaviours, driving corrective actions, and leading weekly safety discussions, inspections, and interventions. You’ll also work closely with the delivery team to ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest client standards.

Location

Due to the nature of the role, we are happy to consider applications from candidates based anywhere within the Severn Trent coverage region.
