Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead a flagship luxury residential development in Cheshire. You will oversee a large country-house extension and steel-frame buildings to the highest standards, ensuring premium finishes and strict safety compliance.

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you will coordinate multiple packages, manage specialist subcontractors and liaise closely with clients, architects and consultants to deliver on time and to exacting quality

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering complex construction projects for main contractors.
• Experience managing piling operations and steel-frame construction.
• Strong understanding of sequencing, temporary works and site logistics.
• Ability to coordinate multiple specialist subcontractors on challenging schemes.

• Oversee piling, groundworks and structural steel installation, ensuring proper sequencing.

Job description

A well-established contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering bespoke luxury residential projects is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager to lead the delivery of a flagship high-specification development in the Cheshire area.

The project comprises of a large contemporary extension to a luxury country house, together with the construction of two substantial steel-frame buildings within the estate. This is a technically demanding scheme involving complex groundworks, piling operations, structural steel installation and premium-quality finishes, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced site manager who thrives on challenging one-off projects.

The Role

Reporting to the Contracts Manager, you'll take full responsibility for managing the project from site set-up through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the exceptional quality standards expected on a bespoke development.

You'll coordinate multiple work packages, manage specialist subcontractors and work closely with the client, architects and consultants throughout the construction process.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of the project.
• Manage all site operations from mobilisation through to handover.

• Coordinate specialist subcontractors and manage programme performance across multiple work areas.
• Ensure health, safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained at all times.
• Work closely with architects, consultants and the private client to ensure the project is delivered to the highest standard.
• Chair site meetings and provide regular progress updates to the Contracts Manager.
• Drive quality inspections, snagging and a successful project handover.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Senior Site Manager delivering complex construction projects for a main contractor.
• Essential experience managing projects involving piling operations and steel-frame construction.
• Strong understanding of structural sequencing, temporary works and site logistics.
• Experience coordinating multiple specialist subcontractors on technically challenging schemes.
• Excellent leadership, communication and programme management skills.
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications are essential.
