Job summary

Lumentum is seeking a Shift Engineer for the Wafer Fab Equipment at Caswell, Northampton. You will provide equipment engineering support, perform maintenance, fault finding, and drive improvements to maximise uptime and OEE.

The role requires working with hazardous chemicals and potential SCBA usage in a cleanroom environment. The successful candidate will mentor technicians, liaise with suppliers, and manage maintenance strategies and monthly equipment performance reports to support engineering

Qualifications

• An engineering degree or equivalent and/or 10 years of related experience.
• Essential: 5+ years in a semiconductor manufacturing environment.
• Follow documented procedures without close supervision.
• Document procedures including work instructions, risk assessments and method statements.
• Good time-management and organisational skills.
• MS Office proficiency and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Repair and preventive maintenance (PMs) of specialist semiconductor processing equipment, including prep work and routine cleans.
• Oversee chemical, gases and spare parts control, chemical fills and waste management.
• Instruct and mentor equipment technicians and junior equipment engineers.
• Liaise with equipment and spares suppliers and supervise external contractors.
• Develop and deliver preventive maintenance strategies to maximise uptime and OEE.
• Ensure team objectives are communicated and met; cross-train staff to meet engineering needs.
• Drive Total Productive Maintenance practices within the Engineering group.
• Define, allocate and monitor progress of key improvement projects in an 8-step format.
• Produce monthly reports detailing equipment performance and project status for Engineering Management.
• Represent the group at production, planning and scrap meetings.
• Work with supply chain to manage spare parts inventory and critical spares.
• Adhere to site safety and environmental procedures.
• Support site emergency response function.
• Provide shift cover as required.
