A specialist engineering company based in Stockport is seeking a Senior Service Engineer to join its growing team. The business focuses on the design and build of advanced inspection and simulation machines for industrial applications.
This is a key role, offering responsibility for technical support, system performance, and mentoring within a fast‑paced and high‑standards environment.
Responsibilities
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting – Provide advanced technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Project Leadership – Lead service interventions, installations, and commissioning activities on‑site, both in the UK and internationally.
- Mentoring and Training – Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on best practices, technical procedures, and fault‑finding techniques.
- System Monitoring – Conduct regular performance audits and inspections to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Documentation – Maintain accurate service records, technical documentation, and system configuration details in line with company procedures.
- Customer Engagement – Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers. Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to a range of stakeholders.
- Compliance and Safety – Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, safety regulations, and relevant industry legislation.
- Internal Collaboration – Work closely with design, development, and production teams to support system improvements and resolve recurring technical issues.
Candidate Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a service engineering role, ideally involving complex systems or industrial machinery.
- Proven ability to fault‑find and repair mechanical, electrical, and software‑integrated systems.
- Experience working with Operational Technology (OT) or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is advantageous.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor or coach junior engineers.
- Flexible and willing to travel nationally and internationally, often at short notice.
- Full UK driving licence and valid passport with no travel restrictions.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
