About Tekifi
Tekifi is an independent building technology and security advisory firm. We work client side across physical security, smart building strategy, BMS and controls, ICT and cyber security, audio visual, technical standards and specifications, design assurance, commissioning and existing building optimisation. Our value is independent advice that holds up under scrutiny from designers, contractors and operators alike.
We are growing our team and this is a senior appointment with genuine scope to shape it.
The role in short
This is a client-facing security consultancy role for someone who is comfortable being the senior technical voice in the room. You will lead security engagements, author the deliverables, manage the commercial relationship and help win the next piece of work.
You will work across new developments, fit-outs and operational buildings, helping clients translate security risks and operational requirements into practical, coordinated and deliverable solutions.
What you will be doing
- Chair client and design workshops, security working groups and progress meetings, including sessions with architects, MEP consultants, main contractors, security integrators and client security and operations teams
- Set the agenda, drive the technical discussion to a decision and own the actions that come out of it
- Act as the day to day client contact on your projects and hold the relationship
Security consultancy and technical delivery
- Undertake security needs assessments, threat and vulnerability reviews, feasibility studies and option appraisals, and develop proportionate security strategies
- Write security design briefs, technical specifications, schedules, tender documentation, design review reports and commissioning plans
- Develop coordinated security designs and system architectures covering access control, CCTV and video management, intruder detection, intercom, visitor management and related security systems
- Support clients through procurement, tender evaluation, construction-stage design assurance, site inspections, commissioning witnessing, handover and operational readiness
Design coordination and systems integration
- Review consultant, contractor and security integrator submissions, and set out clear, defensible positions on compliance, risk, quality and buildability
- Coordinate security requirements and interfaces with architecture, doors and ironmongery, MEP systems, lifts, fire strategy, ICT networks and smart building platforms
- Define appropriate network, integration and cyber security requirements for connected security systems in collaboration with client IT and cyber security stakeholders
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with existing and prospective clients
- Write and price fee proposals, and negotiate scope and commercial terms
- Build a personal network in the London market and represent Tekifi credibly at industry events
- Contribute thought leadership aligned with our values and help move the security and building technology industries forward
What we are looking for
- Five years or more in physical security consultancy, security engineering, security design or systems integration, with meaningful experience in a consultancy, client-side or senior design role
- Demonstrable experience leading security meetings and workshops with senior stakeholders, designers, contractors and security integrators
- Strong technical writing. You can produce security strategies, specifications and reports that consistently satisfy client expectations and enable effective procurement and delivery
- Sound working knowledge of access control, CCTV and video management, intruder detection, intercom and visitor management systems, including their design, integration and commissioning
- Commercial awareness. You understand fees, scope, programme and risk, and you can hold a difficult commercial conversation
- Degree or recognised qualification in security, electrical, electronic or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Right to work in the Ireland/UK
- Experience with leading security platforms such as Gallagher, Genetec, LenelS2, C-CURE or Milestone
- Knowledge of relevant UK and international security standards, guidance and good practice for access control, video surveillance and intruder detection
- Experience coordinating security systems with ICT networks, building systems and enterprise platforms
- Experience in commercial offices, data centres, life sciences, corporate campuses or large property portfolios
- Awareness of cyber security, data protection and privacy principles as they apply to connected physical security systems
- Chartered status, or working towards it, with the Security Institute, IET, CIBSE or a similar professional body
How you work
- You form a view and you can defend it, without needing to win the room
- You write clearly and you do not hide behind jargon
- You are comfortable owning a client relationship end to end
- You would rather flag a problem early than let it surface on site
What we offer
- A senior role with real ownership
- Independent advisory work, free from product or installation bias
- Genuine influence over how the business develops
- Competitive salary, negotiable and dependent on experience
- Support for professional membership, chartership and ongoing training
- Flexible working arrangements built around client and project needs
Tekifi is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and we will make reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process on request.
