Role - Snr Scientist

Duration - 12 months

Description:

This lab-based role requires experience in the culture and functional analysis of tissues and primary cells and will support the discovery of novel therapeutic entities for patients with skeletal and inflammatory joint conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Run in vitro translational assays to read out on phenotypic outcomes that reflect the biology and mechanism of the target
  • Develop complex cell models utilising skeletal-relevant cells (eg osteoblasts, fibroblast-like synoviocytes, chondrocytes)
  • Explore target/molecule pathway and mechanism of action using molecular in vitro and computational techniques
  • Collaborate within project teams to progress our therapeutic programs
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of experimental write ups in electronic lab notebooks
Experience and skills
  • PhD or equivalent in cell biology or immunology, ideally with a background in skeletal biology or immunology
  • Excellent practical cell biology skills including primary human cell isolation/culture
  • Technical expertise in complex cell-based assays including 96/384 well plate-based assays
  • Hands on experience in flow cytometry
  • Experience in computational biology approaches applied to transcriptomics (bulk and single-cell RNA-seq), cytometry, or proteomics, with ability to analyse and interpret high-dimensional biological data
  • Proven ability to independently design and execute experiments for profiling of target biology and/or molecule profiling
  • Able to present and communicate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Desirable: knowledge of qPCR/RNA-Seq, MSD/ELISA, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, cell transfection, high content imaging
  • Advantageous: prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
