Job summary

Agratas in Oxford, UK is seeking a Senior Scientist in Fundamental Research (Battery Materials) to lead development of next-generation battery materials and technologies.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team to translate fundamental science into scalable battery solutions, applying advanced analytics and characterisation to understand structure–property relationships and performance.

Qualifications

• PhD in Materials Science or related field, with industrial research experience.
• Deep expertise in battery materials for Li-ion and emerging chemistries.
• Hands-on experience with synthesis, characterisation and electrochemical testing.
• Proficiency with XRD, SEM/TEM, spectroscopy, and advanced analysis.
• Ability to link structure–property relationships to performance and degradation.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of advanced cathode and anode materials for next-gen batteries.
• Design electrochemical tests to evaluate new materials and chemistries.
• Apply multi-scale analysis to understand material behaviour during cycling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research into prototypes.
• Present findings to leadership and contribute to publications and patents where appropriate.
