A national public health organization is seeking a Senior Scientist to provide epidemiological and data management support for infectious disease incidents. This role involves working closely with a diverse set of collaborators to ensure high-quality disease surveillance and response. The ideal candidate will contribute to outbreak investigations and support local Health Protection Teams, promoting inclusive and equitable workplace values.
The Senior Scientist works closely with senior epidemiologist colleagues to provide epidemiological and data management support across a number of topic areas; and to the epidemiological investigation of incidents and outbreaks of infectious diseases and routine, supporting local Health Protection Teams and in collaboration with other partners. This will include supporting and managing the technical and analytical aspects of epidemiological outbreak investigations and supporting a team in carrying out these tasks.The interface with local, regional and national colleagues, as well as with external stakeholders, will be an important feature of this role. Field Services Division The Field Services Division was established to provide a national comprehensive service which is geographically dispersed and integrates epidemiological, microbiological, data science and other public health capacity and skills to consistently deliver high-quality disease surveillance, public health intelligence and outbreak response. Field Services provides an effector arm for UKHSA, supporting the translation of evidence into practice as well as having a role in strengthening disease surveillance and outbreak response through closer links with the NHS and other partners. It also maintains valuable links to academic centres to support the advancement of the evidence base for health protection and provides effective leadership and coordination of the UKHSA field epidemiology training function.,
This list is not exhaustive. The Midlands Field Services team provides epidemiology and public health microbiology advice and expertise to local, regional, and national stakeholders. This includes effective surveillance of infectious diseases, and leading epidemiological field response to infectious disease incidents and outbreaks across a large and diverse part of the country.
