Job summary

Eurofins Scientific is seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist, Gas Chromatography for a GMP-regulated Biopharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory. You will provide technical leadership as the GC specialist, supporting high-quality analytical testing, complex investigations, and continuous improvement across method development, validation, troubleshooting and compliance.

• Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• Extensive experience within GMP/GLP-regulated lab with Gas Chromatography expertise.
• Strong knowledge of chromatographic method development, validation, transfer, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with pharmacopoeial methods and requirements (USP, EP, BP, JP or equivalent).
• Excellent GMP, data integrity, and regulatory compliance understanding.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead and SME for Gas Chromatography across the Chemistry department.
• Perform and oversee complex analytical testing in a GMP-regulated lab.
• Lead and support method development, validation, transfer, and optimisation activities.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for chromatographic methods and instrumentation.
• Conduct technical/data reviews and batch audits to ensure GMP and regulatory compliance.
• Lead root cause investigations, quality risk assessments, CAPAs, change controls, and related activities.
• Develop, review, and approve analytical procedures, protocols, reports, and GMP documentation.
• Build client relationships through technical discussions, audits, and collaboration.

Hours: 39 hours per week, 09:00 - 17:15 (4 days), 09:00 - 17:30 (1 day)

Purpose of the post

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist, Gas Chromatography (GC) Subject Matter Expert to provide technical leadership within our GMP-regulated Biopharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory. Acting as the department's recognised GC specialist, you will support the delivery of high-quality analytical testing services, lead complex scientific investigations, and drive excellence across method development, validation, troubleshooting, compliance, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for Gas Chromatography across the Chemistry department.
• Perform and oversee complex analytical testing to support biopharmaceutical products and projects within a GMP-regulated laboratory environment.
• Lead and support method development, validation, verification, transfer, and optimisation activities.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting expertise, and scientific support for chromatographic methods and instrumentation.
• Conduct technical reviews, data reviews, and batch audits to ensure compliance with GMP, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead root cause investigations, quality risk assessments, CAPAs, change controls, and other quality-related activities.
• Develop, review, and approve analytical procedures, protocols, reports, and controlled GMP documentation.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through technical discussions, project support, audit participation, and inter-company collaboration.
• Support regulatory inspections, client audits, self-inspections, continuous improvement initiatives, and the delivery of technical training across the department.

Qualifications

• Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• Extensive experience within a GMP or GLP-regulated laboratory environment, with significant expertise in Gas Chromatography.
• Strong knowledge of chromatographic method development, validation, transfer, verification, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with pharmacopoeial methods and requirements (USP, EP, BP, JP or equivalent).
• Excellent understanding of GMP, data integrity, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to build effective client relationships and provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training.
