Job summary

Blenheim Schools is seeking a Senior Science Technician for Akeley Wood School, Buckingham, MK18 5AE. This permanent, term-time role covers Biology, Chemistry and Physics with equipment prep, safety checks and inventory management.

You will collaborate with teaching staff to ensure smooth practical science lessons, uphold high safety standards, and support hands‑on experiments from January 2027 onward.

Qualifications

• Experience working as a Science Technician or within a laboratory, educational or scientific environment.
• Has strong practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Has excellent attention to detail and record‑keeping skills.
• Can work independently while building positive relationships with teaching and support staff.
• Is confident handling scientific equipment, chemicals and laboratory resources safely.
• Shares a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons and demonstrations.
• Maintain, organise and carry out safety checks on laboratory equipment, facilities and resources across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Manage chemical storage, stock levels and departmental inventory, ensuring safe handling and compliance with regulations.
• Support teachers with practical activities, classroom resources and technical assistance during lessons where required.
• Assist with risk assessments, COSHH records and health and safety compliance, following current CLEAPSS and ASE guidance.
• Check deliveries, manage supplies and help ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the Science Department.
