Job description

The Role

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the Science preparation rooms and technical support team.
• Prepare and maintain equipment, materials, and resources for practical science lessons.
• Ensure all experiments and demonstrations comply with health and safety regulations and CLEAPSS best practice.
• Manage stock levels, carry out risk assessments, and maintain accurate records of equipment and chemicals.
• Provide support, training, and guidance to junior technicians.
• Liaise with teaching staff to ensure practical lessons are effectively resourced and meet curriculum needs.
• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of technical processes and safety standards within the department.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Science Technician, ideally in a secondary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety, COSHH, and CLEAPSS guidelines.
• A relevant science qualification (A Level, BTEC, or degree level preferred).
• Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work proactively, prioritise tasks, and manage a small team effectively.
