Job summary

Kent is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to join our Technical/Process Safety team, ideally based in Aberdeen, Glasgow or Edinburgh. You will lead safety commissions for high hazard industries such as Oil & Gas, Low Carbon and Renewables, while developing junior engineers and advancing technical capabilities.

As part of a leading consultancy, you will prepare safety scopes, undertake QRA and consequence analysis, and deliver reports to a high standard.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering subject.
  • Chartered with a relevant institution.
  • Experience in Process/Technical Safety, preferably in the Energy industry.
  • Experience in risk and safety management.
  • Experience leading work scopes to meet delivery/cost targets without compromising quality.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of QRA and other safety techniques, including consequence analysis (PHAST software).
  • Familiar with relevant legislation and industry standards such as COMAH and Safety Case Regulations.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports to a high standard and to check the work of others.
  • Experience of contributing to successful bids and proposals.
  • Be responsive and proactive to opportunities to growth business.

Responsibilities

About the job:

Kent is looking for a Senior Safety Engineer to be ideally based in our Aberdeen, Glasgow or Edinburgh office (other locations may be considered). We are seeking applicants from experienced professionals to join our world class Technical/Process Safety team. Foremost amongst your attributes will be your ability to lead/support a range of projects, your passion to develop junior engineers as well the drive and passion to develop your own technical expertise. As part of a leading consultancy, you will successfully support and lead delivery of Safety commissions as well as develop our capability. You will be helping support our clients and their ongoing operations, within high hazard industries such as Oil & Gas, Low Carbon and Renewables industries and through the energy transition.

Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of projects with a focus on technical excellence, which is key to our success.
  • Conducting safety scopes (experience in consequence analysis, QRA, Formal Safety Assessments, Safety Case/COMAH Regulations etc is preferred) for major hazard industries.
  • Technical report authorship.
  • Leading junior engineers on projects and providing technical guidance and mentoring support.
  • Preparation of proposals (including cost estimations) for new work scopes.
  • Project engineering to ensure studies and projects are delivered in compliance with agreed scope, budgets and schedules.
  • Direct engagement with clients and developing strong relationships with existing and future clients.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education and experience:
