Job summary

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking a Head of Service to provide strategic and operational leadership across the Integrated Front Door, Emergency Duty Team and MACPT. You will set direction, enhance performance and drive improvements with children’s safety at the heart of decisions.

You will lead the workforce, manage budgets, advise senior leaders and strengthen multi-agency partnerships to ensure timely, safeguarding decisions and statutory duties are met.

Qualifications

• A degree in a relevant subject and a recognised social work qualification.
• Current registration with Social Work England.
• Substantial senior management experience in children's services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Integrated Front Door, Emergency Duty Team and MACPT.
• Ensure safeguarding contacts receive a proportionate, timely response and statutory duties are met.
• Develop performance and quality-management systems for sustained improvement.
• Lead the workforce, ensure high professional standards, safer recruitment and staff development.
• Plan and control delegated budgets and resources to deliver priorities.
• Advise senior leaders and strengthen multi-agency partnerships.
