Job summary

Highgate is seeking an experienced, energetic and highly credible safeguarding professional to join its senior leadership team as Head of Safeguarding (Designated Safeguarding Lead). We are looking for someone who combines strong expertise in safeguarding and child protection with the ability to build trust quickly with young people, parents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Act as the School’s Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing operational leadership of safeguarding and child protection across the Foundation.
• Lead DSL teams, chair DSL meetings, provide professional guidance and coordinate DSL training
• Oversee safeguarding induction and ongoing staff training, maintain safeguarding records and referrals
• Communicate with safeguarding partners, prepare reports for Governors and senior leaders
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation and local procedures, support safer recruitment and safeguarding systems
• Support attendance initiatives and safeguarding information transfer for pupils joining or leaving the School
