Job summary

Samaritans is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Officer to join the Branch & Volunteer Services team in the UK. You will provide expert safeguarding advice, guidance and support to volunteers and staff, helping protect vulnerable people and embed a strong safeguarding culture.

The role includes managing referrals, contributing to investigations, and maintaining safeguarding policies. It offers hybrid working with regular in-person visits to the Central Office in Ewell and approximately 2 days

Qualifications

• Experience safeguarding children, young people and/or adults at risk.
• Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and best practice.
• Experience managing complex or sensitive cases and making sound decisions.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with others.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert safeguarding advice and guidance on complex cases.
• Manage safeguarding referrals and coordinate with external agencies.
• Support volunteers and staff to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns.
• Contribute to investigations, case reviews and serious incident management.
• Build strong relationships across branches to promote best practice.
• Maintain and develop safeguarding policies, procedures and training.
