Senior Rotational Occupational Therapist

Salary: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum/pro rata

We are recruiting for a Senior Occupational Therapist who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Please note that a Developmental Programme Band 5 to Band 6 OT might be considered. If you are successful for the Developmental programme you will be employed as a Band 5 OT, and once all of your competencies have been achieved you will be promoted to a Band 6 Senior Rotational Occupational Therapist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work rotationally in Cardiorespiratory, Respiratory Support Unit, Older Persons wards, Frailty Assessment wards, Frailty SDEC, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Surgical specialities wards, and Emergency Department and Front Door wards.
  • Provide holistic assessments to patients, guide treatment plans, adapt programmes, and develop discharge plans.
  • Provide supervision to rotational therapists, therapy assistants, and students.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and health care professionals using verbal and non-visual tools.
  • Maintain accountability for own work and patient caseload.
  • Refer patients appropriately to other health and social care services, providing timely and detailed information.
Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/degree in occupational therapy
  • Current Health Professions Council registration
  • Membership of the College of Occupational Therapy

Experience:

  • Broad range of experience and junior level including acute environments
  • Experience of responding to demand / prioritising work / managing a caseload
  • Supervision of Occupational Therapy students / junior staff

Knowledge:

  • Good knowledge of basis assessment and treatment of patients with a wide range of conditions
  • Understanding of the balance of professional development needs with service needs
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and managing risk in your own work

Skills:

  • Able to communicate clearly with other team members and patients/carers
  • Basic auditing skills
