Job summary

The Apex Group in Jersey is seeking a Senior Risk Manager / Head of Risk to lead and strengthen the local risk framework within a global financial services organisation.

You will advise Boards and senior leaders, oversee risk events and regulatory matters, and drive a proactive risk culture across the business while partnering with multiple functions to ensure resilient operations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within Risk Management in financial services.
• Experience working within regulated environments such as fund administration, fund management, private wealth, banking, fiduciary, or broader financial services sectors.
• Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and governance structures.
• Experience operating within both first and second lines of defence.
• The confidence and credibility to engage with and challenge senior stakeholders and Boards.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to managing risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to Risk and Control Assessments and oversee Business Continuity and Operational Resilience.

About the Role

Apex Group is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Risk Manager / Head of Risk to join our Jersey leadership team. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to shape and strengthen the local risk management framework across a leading global financial services organisation. You will work closely with senior business leaders, local Boards, and Group Risk stakeholders, providing independent oversight, challenge, and guidance while helping the business achieve its strategic objectives in a controlled and sustainable manner. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong risk culture, influencing decision-making at all levels, and ensuring that risk management remains a value-adding business partner rather than simply a regulatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Risk Manager / Head of Risk, you will:

• Act as a trusted advisor to local leadership teams and Boards on risk-related matters.
• Lead the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Apex Group's Risk Management Framework within Jersey.
• Provide independent oversight and challenge across operational, regulatory, financial, reputational, and strategic risks.
• Partner with business leaders to identify emerging risks and strengthen the overall control environment.
• Drive a proactive risk culture through education, engagement, and effective governance.
• Present risk insights, trends, and recommendations to local Boards, Risk Committees, and senior stakeholders.
• Oversee risk events, complaints, incidents, and breaches, ensuring appropriate investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation.
• Support and challenge client acceptance decisions from a risk perspective.
• Lead and contribute to Risk and Control Assessments, ensuring risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed.
• Maintain oversight of Business Continuity and Operational Resilience arrangements.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide guidance on their potential impact to the business.
• Produce meaningful risk reporting that supports informed decision-making and strategic planning.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience within Risk Management in financial services.
• Experience working within regulated environments such as fund administration, fund management, private wealth, banking, fiduciary, or broader financial services sectors.
• Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and governance structures.
• Experience operating within both first and second lines of defence.
• The confidence and credibility to engage with and challenge senior stakeholders and Boards.
• Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
• A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to managing risk.
• Professional risk, compliance, audit, or financial services qualifications would be advantageous.
