Job description
The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk and Compliance Manager to take ownership of all second-line compliance and risk activities across our reinsurance operations. This senior role will provide expert regulatory advice, particularly regarding FCA rules (ICOBS, SM&CR, Consumer Duty) and ensure robust conduct and governance across our UK and international reinsurance activities.

Acting as a senior point of contact for leadership and the Board, you will offer independent challenge, oversee compliance frameworks, and lead on regulatory change initiatives. You will also play a key role in shaping a strong culture of integrity, ethical conduct, and high regulatory standards across the business.

This role requires someone with deep technical knowledge of insurance regulation, particularly as it applies to the reinsurance sector, who can work collaboratively across the business while providing clear, pragmatic advice and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Significant experience in a senior risk and compliance role, ideally within reinsurance or insurance.
  • In-depth understanding of the FCA Handbook, including ICOBS, Consumer Duty, Conduct Risk, SM&CR, Operational Resilience, and Financial Promotions.
  • Proven track of record of:
    • Providing second-line oversight and regulatory advice on insurance matters
    • Leading on horizon scanning and regulatory change implementation (UK and international)
    • Approving financial promotions and product governance reviews
    • Designing and embedding effective policies, controls, and compliance monitoring frameworks
    • Overseeing introducer and appointed representative (AR/IAR) frameworks
  • Experience chairing risk and conduct committees and preparing board-level materials.
  • Skilled in interpreting breaches, errors and omissions (E&Os), conflicts of interest, and control failures to inform risk mitigation.
  • Comfortable engaging with the FCA and handling regulatory submissions and permissions.
  • Experience partnering with first-line teams and leading compliance training programmes.
About You

We are seeking a confident, collaborative compliance leader who understands the complexity and pace of the reinsurance market. You will be someone who can balance regulatory rigour with commercial pragmatism and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, from operational teams to executive leaders.

You will bring:

  • A proactive and strategic mindset
  • The ability to challenge constructively and influence decision-making
  • High personal integrity and a strong commitment to ethical conduct
  • A collaborative working style with excellent communication skills
  • An interest in continuous improvement, regulatory innovation, and good customer outcomes, even in a wholesale setting
  • Confidence in guiding the business through regulatory change, operational implementation, and stakeholder education
