Senior Risk Analyst

Description

This is a role for an experienced insurance professional with a background in risk management and with solid General Insurance experience.

The role holder will be a key member of the Group’s Risk Management team, reporting to the Risk Manager and assisting in the delivery of all aspects of risk management for the Lancashire Group and its entities. The position offers an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to expand upon their existing skill set and gain exposure to a wide variety of stakeholders and activities within a growing organisation. The role holder should be committed to continuing their personal development.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Partner with certain business areas to develop a strong working relationship with the aim of becoming their go to person for anything risk related; develop a detailed understanding of their business processes and controls and ensure these are accurately reflected in the Group risk and control matrix
  • Play a key role in the planning and execution of the Group’s quarterly control affirmation, control testing and risk assessment processes, through close liaison with other business functions.
  • Prepare the slides for the quarterly ORSA reports to the boards as directed.
  • Assist in the monitoring and reporting of key risk indicators (KRI) across the Group, including both the tracking of performance against risk appetite and the identification of mitigating actions as appropriate.
  • Assist in the coordination and reporting of risk information to management (including both forward-looking and trend analysis).
  • Contribute to the production of the annual Own Risk and Solvency (ORSA) Reports.
  • Assist in the detection and reporting of new and emerging risks, to ensure they are appropriately captured and managed.
  • Assist in the data collection and reporting of operational loss events and near misses across the Group.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, challenge and enhancement of the enterprise risk management framework, including the updating of risk policies, risk appetite statements and the risk and control registers.
  • Provide ongoing support and assistance to the Risk Manager(s), including responding to ad hoc requests from internal business functions as required.
  • Engage with relevant market, professional and regulatory bodies and attend appropriate events to maintain and develop understanding and knowledge of risk management best practice
Essential Skills & Requirements
  • Solid experience of working in or around Lloyd’s/London Insurance Market either in a Risk Management/Internal Audit team or a professional practice (Audit/Consultancy/Actuarial etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to effectively build strong rapport with business areas and manage stakeholders appropriately.
  • An awareness, interest and understanding of the principles of effective enterprise risk management and the need for effective identification, monitoring and reporting of key risks, controls and performance indicators.
  • An awareness of risk management regulatory requirements in the UK and Bermuda, and of risk management related legislation/policies/procedures/key standards of compliance and governance.
  • A comprehensive understanding of insurance terminology.
  • The ability to work independently and deliver projects/tasks with limited management support
  • Strong analytical, technical and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • A working knowledge of Risk Information Management Systems is desirable.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • The ability to suggest improvements to existing processes and contribute to the strategic development of the risk management team.
  • Open to additional training (CPD).
