Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Senior Rights of Way & Definitive Map Technical Officer to enhance the Definitive Map and Statement and to support decision-making across the Rights of Way service. You will respond to enquiries, analyse evidence and contribute to spatial data management alongside experienced colleagues.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 4 qualification, extensive GIS experience, and strong communication skills to liaise with officers, members, and partners.

Qualifications

• Level 4 qualification or equivalent in rights of way, geography, mapping, or related discipline.
• Thorough knowledge of public rights of way legislation, policy and practice.
• Practical experience of cartography, GIS, and managing spatial data.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office, databases, and GIS outputs.

Responsibilities

• Respond to Rights of Way and Definitive Map enquiries from various sources.
• Maintain and update the Definitive Map and Statement and related spatial data.
• Analyse evidence, mapping and data to support decisions.
• Prepare reports, briefings and information for officers and members.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and coordinate work of Technical Officers.
• Collaborate with colleagues and other agencies to resolve issues.
