About The Role
As aSeniorRF Engineer, the candidatewill supportthe design,deploymentand optimisationof ourwireless mobilesolutionsacrossthe HS2 project.TheSeniorRF Engineer will work in a multi-discipline design team tocreatesolutions that meet customers’ needs.You willcreatethecellular RF design of majortransport hubsserving millions of passengers every year.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry outphysical and virtualRF and Design Surveys for inbuilding DASinfrastructure.
- Perform RF modelling, link budgetsand design usingiBWaveandother planning tools.
- Review results,drawingsand reports conducted by others.
- Set design criteria/requirementsand performsystem dimensioning, linkbudgetand traffic analysis.
- Create low level designs including Bills of Materials, cableschedulesand detailed system configuration diagrams, ensuring costs areclosely controlledthroughout the design process.
- Understandthe wider context of the design and ensure external interfaces are consideredworking withotherteam membersto implement an integrated design.
- Ensure designs are dimensioned for current demand and scalable to adapt for future growth and changes in MNO requirements.
- Participate in equipment co-ordination sessions with HS2 stakeholders and partners ensuring the needs of the RF design are represented in decision-makingand minimise design change.
- Participate in MNO review sessions being able to present the design and providejustification for the design and technical decisions.
- Complete RAMS and abide by company H&S policy.
- Work with project managers and co-ordinatorsto deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Liaise with customers, presenting designs to clients,stakeholdersand project teams.
- Complete any Handover Packs, Post Integration Reports and Design Reports on agreed timescales and report templates
- Provide estimates on resourcesrequiredforparticular tasks.
- Updating any internal reporting system asrequired.
- Familiarisation of all company documentation, especially ISO procedures.
This role requires 2 days per weeklocatedin Birmingham.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience designing indoor coverage solutions including active and passive distributed antenna systems (DAS) especially for large scale high-capacity venues such as major train stations.
- Minimum iBwave certification level 2 (level 3 preferred).
- Knowledge of UK or IE mobile network architecture models and standards.
- Experience of designing DAS equipment rooms, including MNO equipment requirements, dimensioning DAS head end, and defining electrical and cooling loads.
- Knowledge of working with architects & BIM modelling teams to plan spacial co-ordination of equipment.
- Experience of testing methodologies, test tools such as scanners and test phones (TEMS, NEMO etc).
- Advanced knowledge in optimisation and performance optimisation.
- Good knowledge of Radio Link Budgets.
