Overview

As a Senior RF Design Engineer in Herefordshire, you will be responsible for the design, test, and development of advanced amplifier systems and RF subsystems used across high performance communication and defence related applications. Your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities
  • Designing RF amplifiers up to several hundred watts between 20MHz and 6GHz
  • Using design tools for schematic capture, simulation, and component creation
  • Supporting full product lifecycle from concept through to production handover
  • Contributing to the design of filters, switches, receivers, and DC control power supply systems
  • Conducting RF measurements such as low large signal gain, power, harmonics, and intermodulation
  • Working with USWR monitors and applying robust RF measurement techniques
  • This position would suit a highly experienced RF Engineer with a proven track record in amplifier design up to several hundred watts across the frequency range 20MHz to 6GHz, who enjoys taking full ownership of the product lifecycle from concept and simulation through to test and production.
  • Proven experience designing RF amplifiers 20MHz to 6GHz
  • Expertise with discrete device matching, GaN PIN diode switching, and VSWR monitoring
  • Strong knowledge of RF test equipment such as spectrum analysers, signal generators, vector network analysers, and power meters
  • Proficiency with design software including Altium Designer, Microwave Office, C, and C++
  • Understanding of power limiting, filtering, and DC control power sequencing
  • FPGA and microcontroller implementation
  • Knowledge of test techniques and ability to carry out validation and characterisation testing
Desirable
  • Experience with Pulsonix, Inventor or equivalent CAD tool, and LabVIEW
  • Understanding of radio communication TX RX design, datalinks, and digital interfaces
  • Familiarity with mechanical and enclosure design
