Job summary

Action for Children is seeking a Senior Residential Support Worker to lead daily operations at Yew Tree, Chesterfield. You will supervise staff, ensure high standards of care and safeguarding, and mentor colleagues while maintaining a safe, nurturing home for young people.

The role requires strong residential childcare experience, a lead-by-example approach, and a commitment to reflective practice and ongoing development. A Level 3 Diploma or willingness to complete within 2 years is essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
• Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.
• Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.
• Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
• Prepared to complete Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within 2 years with full support.

Responsibilities

• Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
• Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
• Attendance at professional meetings including reviews for young people.
• Lead shifts with the primary aim of high-quality service provision.
• Supervise and guide staff as required, following policies and procedures.
• Adhere to policy procedures and professional practice standards, ensuring safeguarding compliance.
• Provide 24/7 care service in line with regulatory requirements.
