Job summary

Birmingham Children’s Trust in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Senior Residential Child Care Officer to support children and young people in a GOOD-rated home on a journey to OUTSTANDING.

You will develop personalised care plans, promote the voices of children, and deliver meaningful activities while working with parents, schools, and professionals to ensure consistent, safe care and positive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Supervise groups of disabled children with emotional/behavioural needs.
• Assess risk and safeguard arrangements.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication with use of communication aids.
• Compassionate and patient approach to high-quality care.
• Flexibility to work with co-workers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop personalised care plans reflecting each child’s needs and goals.
• Promote children’s voices and involve them in decisions.
• Deliver meaningful activities tailored to each child’s abilities.
• Collaborate with parents, schools, social workers and professionals.
• Support daily living skills such as meal prep and self-care.
