A leading academic institution in London is seeking two Senior Research Security Advisors to enhance their capabilities in research security. Responsibilities include raising awareness, developing security policies, and offering expert advice. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of research security and excellent communication skills. The role offers a competitive salary of £57,785 to £69,365 per annum and extensive benefits.
International collaboration forms a major part of Imperial College London’s research, innovation and education portfolio, and with such internationalisation we need to ensure that this activity is carried out with the highest degree of integrity and in line with legislation and applicable international regimes.
We are looking for two Senior Research Security Advisors to support the continued development and implementation of policy, process, and practice to underpin Imperial’s capabilities in taking a responsible and informed approach to research security – including compliance with export and trade control legislation and connected research security requirements and considerations.
As a member of the University’s central Research Office, your primary objective will be to promote and facilitate a security‑conscious approach to research that is sensitive to the global context and protective of both the University’s academic independence and integrity.
You should demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the research security environment, including export controls and other core considerations underpinning relevant UK legislation. It is also preferable, but not essential, that you should have gained previous experience of working in the HEI sector and be educated to degree level (or equivalent). You should possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, being able to work both collaboratively and independently, with a high degree of integrity on complex and sometimes sensitive matters. You will also have the ability to contribute to multi‑faced process and policy matters in addition to offering accurate technical and regulatory advice in specific cases.
