Job description

Full-time: 35 hours per week

Fixed term: 2 years

We are looking for a UE06 Senior Research Funding Administrator (Pre and post award grant management) to provide pre-and post-award support to academic researchers and investigators of The Roslin Institute and Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS) on the Easter Bush Campus.

The Opportunity:

You will take a leading role in providing specialist and expert support to academic investigators and researchers on a diverse portfolio of research projects. You are responsible for the research funding applications in a fast-paced deadline-driven role, through to the point of set-up. You are also responsible for the delivery of post-award grant management including support for resource management and reporting on the projects.

This role is responsible for the capture and analysis of finance and resources of externally funded research activity as they influence the overall finance and resources position for both The Roslin Institute and R(D)SVS on the Easter Bush Campus.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week) for a fixed term of two years; however, we are open to considering flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.

Your skills and attributes for success:
  • HNC/HND or equivalent level qualifications plus relevant grants administration/accounts experience (within HE sector); demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles
  • Excellent accountancy and numeracy skills, with some knowledge of job costing and awareness of financial/budget modelling
  • High quality communication and relationship building skills with evidence of the ability to persuade and negotiate
  • High level of analytical and organisational skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment for working in a varied and busy role, with a strong sense of service delivery.
