Job summary

The Sussex Energy Group within the University of Sussex Business School invites applications for a Senior Research Fellow in Political Economy. You will lead research addressing political economy, policy, and regulatory aspects of reducing material throughput and energy use, with a focus on housing and cars.

You will collaborate with policy makers and researchers across Manchester, Leeds and Sussex to deliver actionable insights that can influence policy and practice in the UK.

Qualifications

• PhD in political economy, political science, geography, economics, innovation studies, sustainability transitions or similar.
• Experience in leading research projects and working with policy makers.
• Strong qualitative research skills including field research and interviewing; data management; ability to communicate to academic, policy and non-academic audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on political economy, institutional, policy and regulatory challenges for reducing material throughput and energy use.
• Collaborate with policy makers to deliver actionable insights for policy change.
• Work with colleagues across Manchester, Leeds and Sussex universities.
