Job description
About the Research team

Reporting to the Grosvenor Property CEO, the Group Research team is responsible for providing research support on global real estate trends across all Grosvenor’s regional OpCos. A core part of the Group Research team’s work is to provide in-depth analysis of the long-term macro trends that are shaping returns in global real estate markets. These insights are used by the Research to inform Grosvenor’s geographic and sector capital allocation recommendations and to inform business strategies within individual business units and to help inform return requirements from various risk activities.

Purpose of Role

We are looking for a senior analyst to help drive long‑term strategic investment decision‑making in our real‑estate business. This person will be a keen, intellectually curious self‑starter with an economics background, who can make sense of global macroeconomic trends and structural changes to identify commercial risks and opportunities. Working in close collaboration with a high calibre team of economists with macro, micro and data analytics specialities, this person will help identify new strategic opportunities for the portfolio and shape long‑term capital allocation recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the analysis on long‑term structural trends (e.g. demographic change, heightened geopolitical uncertainty, impact of AI on productivity trends, impact of climate change on real estate markets) and how they could impact a range of key long‑term economic variables (e.g. sustainable long‑term interest rates, government debt dynamics, shifting global growth drivers).
  • Contribute to the analysis of how these global trends are driving long‑term thematic investment strategies/opportunities in real estate markets, in terms of geographic and sector recommendations.
  • Undertake independent research into the supply and demand drivers of non‑traditional real estate sectors such as data centres, life sciences, medical offices, senior living/co‑living to better inform investment strategies.
  • Translate macroeconomic trends and corporate finance knowledge into applied investment strategy recommendations.
  • Inform capital allocation decisions, applying modern portfolio theory and assessing the relationship between real estate and other asset classes.
  • Assess risk‑return drivers of prospective investment choices.
  • Contribute as needed to annual weighted‑average cost of capital.
  • Ability to assess asset return benchmarking and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Analyse emerging business models (e.g. PropTech and green tech business investments) and how these are impacting traditional real estate investment models, including analysis of external company performance and growth strategies.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
  • Degree in Economics (preferably postgraduate).
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of experience in economics or a consulting background.
  • CFA qualification (completed or underway).
  • Experience in commercial real estate desirable but not essential.
Skills

  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, including modern portfolio theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply high‑quality economic insights into applied investment strategies.
  • Strong Excel and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Curiosity and strong problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills (including the ability to write concise, impactful reports at pace as well as long‑form written reports).
  • Motivated to scope and undertake independent research topics.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively part of a project team, with other economists and with investment colleagues.
