Job summary

HFG in the City of London is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Technician on a 12M fixed-term basis to support administration and technical management of reinsurance. You will oversee end-to-end processing of reinsurance contracts, premiums, and claims while working with Finance and Actuarial for month-end reporting.

The role requires XL Pro experience, strong numerical and analytical skills, and the ability to liaise with brokers and reinsurers to recover amounts due.

Qualifications

• Experience using XL Pro for administration and processing of reinsurance contracts and related transactions.
• Experience managing reinsurance recoveries across multiple classes of business and different outward reinsurance arrangements.
• Previous experience in a credit control or reinsurance operations function within insurance or reinsurance markets.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with LORS would be advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal stakeholders, brokers and reinsurers.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of end-to-end administration and processing of reinsurance contracts across syndicates.
• Maintain professional, proactive relationships with stakeholders and deliver high-quality work.
• Manage contract wordings, endorsements and supporting documentation in line with KPIs.
• Oversee recovery of reinsurance claims and pursue outstanding balances with brokers/reinsurers.
• Maintain accurate internal records of recoveries and support credit control processes.
• Coordinate with Finance and Actuarial for month- and quarter-end reporting.
• Prepare MI for syndicate reporting packs with accurate data and deadlines.
• Analyze reinsurance programmes and prepare claims reports and recovery analyses.
• Monitor reinsurer security information and credit ratings to manage counterparty risk.
• Ensure data management and reporting undergo peer-review for accuracy.
• Develop understanding of additional books of business to support broader portfolio management.
• Review new reinsurance contracts and enter data into XLPro.
• Undertake other duties to support the team and reinsurance operations.

I am currently partnered with a leading Lloyd's Insurer who are seeking a Senior Reinsurance Technician to join the business on a 12M FTC basis.

This role will be supporting the administration and technical management of reinsurance business. The role will involve overseeing the end-to-end processing of reinsurance contracts, premium and claims processing & more.

My client is looking for an experienced Reinsurance Technician, with strong experience within a similar role, and someone who has used using XL Pro.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the end-to-end administration and processing of reinsurance contracts across all syndicates managed by the business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with internal procedures.
• Maintain a professional, proactive and customer-focused approach at all times, delivering high-quality work and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the accurate administration and maintenance of reinsurance contracts, including the filing and management of contract wordings, endorsements and supporting documentation, in line with established team KPIs.
• Manage the recovery of reinsurance claims, liaising with brokers and reinsurers as required to ensure outstanding balances are pursued and recovered in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate internal system records of reinsurance recoveries, monitor outstanding balances and support effective credit control processes.
• Liaise regularly with Finance and Actuarial teams to provide reinsurance information and support month-end and quarter-end reporting requirements.
• Prepare management information (MI) for inclusion in syndicate reporting packs, ensuring data is accurate, complete and delivered within agreed deadlines.
• Undertake analysis of reinsurance programmes as required, including the preparation of claims reports, reinsurance recovery analysis, security reviews and ad hoc management reports.
• Maintain accurate records of reinsurer security information and regularly monitor reinsurer credit ratings to support the effective management of counterparty risk.
• Ensure that all data management and reporting activities are subject to appropriate peer-review processes, maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency.
• Develop a thorough understanding of additional books of business to support the effective administration and management of the wider reinsurance portfolio.
• Review new reinsurance contracts and ensure that relevant information is accurately recorded and entered into XLPro.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties relevant to the role, supporting the wider team and contributing to the efficient delivery of reinsurance operations.

• Previous experience within a credit control or reinsurance operations function, in either an administrative or technical capacity, within the insurance or reinsurance market.
