About the Role

Guy Carpenter is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Senior Vice President Broker to join our market‑leading Credit, Bond & Political Risk Team in London, UK. In this senior leadership role you will leverage your extensive expertise and industry insight to drive growth and innovation within the dynamic and expanding credit specialty markets, taking ownership of major client relationships, leading complex treaty reinsurance negotiations and shaping strategic initiatives that influence both client outcomes and our firm’s market positioning on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deepen strategic relationships with senior client executives and key stakeholders through proactive engagement, including international travel and high‑level negotiations.
  • Provide expert guidance on risk identification and management across credit, bond, political risk and related financial sectors, applying advanced market knowledge and analytical rigor.
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, analytics and product teams to design innovative, bespoke reinsurance solutions that meet complex client needs and optimise portfolio performance.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end treaty renewal and placement process, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely execution of contract documentation.
  • Drive business development efforts by spearheading responses to RFPs and tenders, identifying new market opportunities and contributing to thought‑leadership initiatives.
  • Monitor and interpret evolving market trends and regulatory developments, advising clients and internal teams to maintain competitive advantage and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Champion the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and operational excellence, while leveraging MMC’s systems and tools to enhance efficiency and collaboration.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a senior insurance / reinsurance broker or underwriter, with a proven track record in credit, surety and / or political risk markets.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret data and market intelligence to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at senior levels across clients, reinsurers and internal teams.
  • Proven leadership skills, including mentoring and developing junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative team culture, and driving business growth.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion and integrity in managing confidential information and potential conflicts.
  • Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Preferably holds Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications such as Cert CII, Dip CII or ACII.
