Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full‑time Senior Receptionist, with a minimum of one year experience in a receptionist role, to join the Emergency Department team at Whipps Cross University Hospital.

The Emergency Department is a very busy and dynamic working environment. Our highly skilled team of consultants, doctors, nursing and other clinical and support staff work to provide specialist, streamlined care for children and adults with a vast range of conditions. We aim to assess all patients as quickly as possible upon arrival.

Job responsibilities

Provide front‑of‑house customer service to all patients, relatives and visitors attending the Emergency Department, Minor Injuries Unit, SDEC, Clinical Decisions Unit and Acute Assessment Unit.

Support the clinical teams in the delivery of safe, effective and patient‑centred care by undertaking a wide range of administrative and clerical duties.

Person Specification – Experience
  • Experience in an admin role.
  • Previous customer‑facing experience dealing with the public face‑to‑face and on the phone.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Experience working in a clinical environment.
Person Specification – Skills
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs in all areas of the Emergency Department including clinical areas.
