Job summary

OpenSourced - Search & Selection is seeking an Algorithms Engineer to join a defence-focused Image Processing team. You will develop intelligent sensing and computer vision capabilities for challenging defence applications, including electro-optic systems and autonomous platforms.

You will tackle real-world perception problems by combining ML, CV, signal processing and statistics, taking ownership of capability areas and mentoring others across the team.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
• Experience deploying ML and computer vision algorithms in production or near-production systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with modern CV architectures (object detection, image classification, transformers).
• Strong Python skills with production-grade C++ for performance-critical systems.
• Ownership-driven, methodical approach to solving ambiguous technical problems.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and evaluate CV algorithms for image classification and object detection.
• Design datasets, evaluation methods, and automated pipelines for ML development.
• Analyse model performance, identify failure modes, and drive capability improvements.
• Support integration, testing, and deployment of algorithms into real-time video processing systems.
• Mentor engineers and share CV/ML expertise across the team.
• Communicate technical concepts and recommendations to stakeholders and customers.
