Job summary

The Peak District National Park Authority is seeking a Senior Ranger Team Leader to lead ranger teams in delivering access, engagement, nature conservation and rights of way across the National Park.

You will report to the Ranger Team Manager, oversee a diverse workload, and help deliver the National Park Management Plan and Volunteer Plan. Travel across the Park, weekend work and a driving licence are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a people manager with a proven track record of developing staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to lead engagement activities and practical countryside work.
  • Experience with budget management and data monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ranger teams across access, public engagement, nature conservation and rights of way.
  • Support delivery of the National Park Management Plan, Authority Volunteer Plan and Diverse Audience Plan.
  • Develop partnerships with water companies and landowners and liaise with emergency services.

Salary: £40,444 – £43,149 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced countryside professional with a passion for leading people, protecting landscapes and making a real difference? The Peak District National Park Authority is looking for a Senior Ranger Team Leader to lead dedicated ranger teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering work across access, public engagement, nature conservation and rights of way, while helping shape the future of the UK’s original Ranger Service.

Reporting to the Ranger Team Manager, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of activities and partnership work, supporting the delivery of the National Park Management Plan, Authority Volunteer Plan and Diverse Audience Plan. You will also help develop important partnerships with United Utilities and Severn Trent Water.

We are looking for an experienced people manager with a proven track record of developing staff and volunteers and delivering high-quality engagement activities and practical countryside work. You will be confident working with a wide range of stakeholders, including water companies, private landowners, emergency services and members of the public.

Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills are essential, alongside some experience of budget management and a commitment to continual improvement in areas such as volunteering, data monitoring and communications.

Based at Aldern House in Bakewell, the role will involve regular travel throughout the National Park, including working one weekend in four and some bank holidays. A driving licence is essential, and the successful candidate will be required to complete a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check with barred list checks.
