Job summary

HCA UK – Manchester & Cheshire invites applications for a Senior Radiographer – MRI at The Wilmslow Hospital. This full-time role (37.5 hrs) involves working three long days per week (7am–8pm) across a diverse MRI caseload within a forward-looking imaging department undergoing expansion.

The department features a Siemens Skyra 3T with broad MB imaging capabilities; progression plans include new scanners and CT expansion over 2025–2026.

Qualifications

• HCPC registration required.
• Degree or equivalent in Radiography.
• Minimum of two years’ MRI experience.
• Evidence of continued professional development in MRI.
• Experience with 3T MRI and competency in general X-ray or willingness to return to practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a wide range of MRI examinations safely and efficiently per clinical protocols.
• Support MRI Leads with day-to-day service management and uphold high patient-care standards.
• Assist with induction and development of new colleagues and governance activities.
• Provide support across general X-ray and admin tasks including bookings and image transfers.
• Assist with MRI safety processes and collaborate with Radiologists and MDT.

Senior Radiographer – MRI

Cheshire, The Wilmslow Hospital

We’re looking for a Senior Radiographer – MRI to join our MRI team at The Wilmslow Hospital, currently rated “Outstanding” by the CQC. Working within a close knit and highly skilled imaging team, you’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse caseload and be part of an exciting period of continued investment and expansion within the department.

The Wilmslow Hospital undertakes a wide range of MRI examinations on a Siemens Skyra 3T scanner, including musculoskeletal sports imaging, abdominal, pelvic, oncology, neuro and breast imaging. Significant investment across 2025 and 2026 has brought brand new equipment including a DEXA scanner, mobile image intensifier, two ultrasound machines and a new X-ray room due for installation in Autumn 2026. Looking ahead, there are plans to upgrade the existing MRI scanner, introduce a second MRI scanner and expand services further with a new CT scanner.

As a Senior Radiographer – MRI, you’ll play an important role in delivering high quality patient care while supporting the continued growth of the department. Alongside performing MRI examinations, you’ll work closely with colleagues across imaging, contribute to service development and help maintain the safe and effective operation of our imaging services.

What You’ll Do

• Support MRI Leads with the day to day running of the service and contribute to maintaining high standards of patient care
• Assist with the induction and development of new colleagues and contribute to governance activities, audits and team initiatives
• Provide support across general X-ray and administrative tasks, including appointment booking and image transfers, where required
• Assist with MRI safety processes and collaborate closely with Radiologists and the wider multidisciplinary team

What You’ll Bring

• HCPC registration
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Radiography
• Minimum of two years’ MRI experience
• Evidence of continued professional development and ongoing MRI education
• Experience of 3T MRI scanning and competency in general X-ray procedures, or willingness to return to practice
