Job summary

A leading construction firm is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial delivery for projects in York and North Yorkshire. The successful candidate will need strong knowledge of NEC contracts and experience in procurement within a large UK contractor environment. Responsibilities focus on cost control, managing project risks, and ensuring projects meet quality and budget expectations, all while fostering strong relationships with clients.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of contract law, especially NEC forms of contract.
• Valid driving licence.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of commercial delivery from feasibility to completion.
• Develop understanding of pre-contract management and startup procedures.
• Assist in timely invoices and prepare final accounts.

Skills

Sub contract & package procurement experience

Experience working for a large UK Main Contractor

Experience in re‑measurement

Financial / cost control

Understanding of contract law (NEC)

Education

Construction related degree
